It was a pleasure to meet everyone, including the First Responder team, Guide Dog team, and to help dog owners overcome challenges with their dogs. While fireworks can be fun for humans, they can be While fireworks can be fun for humans, they can be extremely stressful for dogs due to the loud noises and bright lights. It’s important to keep your dog safe and comfortable during 4th of July celebrations. Here are some tips for helping your dog cope with fireworks🎆: 1. Take your dog for a morning walk, get some extra exercise or hike before the festivities begin. This will help burn off some energy and provide mental stimulation for your dog. 2. Keep your dog indoors in a quiet, secure room during fireworks displays. Close windows and curtains to muffle the sound and reduce the visual stimulation. Crating your dog is highly recommended. 2. Create a safe space for your dog with their favorite enrichment toys, bedding, and treats to help them feel secure. 3. Play calming music or white noise to drown out the sound of fireworks. 4. Sound counter conditioning training ahead of time really helps them cope with fireworks. But some dogs may have inherited a predisposition to fear loud noises due to their genetic makeup, counter conditioning won’t 100% solve the issue. Consult with your veterinarian about natural calming supplements or medications that can help ease your dog’s anxiety along with training. 5.Make sure your dog is wearing a collar with identification in case they become frightened and try to escape. 6. If you plan on taking your dog to a fireworks display, make sure they are on a leash and have proper identification Remember, every dog is different and may react differently to fireworks. It’s important to pay attention to your dog’s behavior and comfort level and adjust accordingly. If your dog is extremely anxious or stressed during fireworks, it’s best to stay home with them. Sudden cardiac death (SCD) took you from us unexpectedly. I hit myself really hard at the emergency vet, thinking it was just a bad dream. Maybe you would be wagging your happy tail to greet me again. Death is inevitable, I knew one day you would leave my side. You appeared in my dreams to find you in 2018. I promised my baby I’d take care of you for the rest of your life and give you the best life ever.But I wasn’t prepared to let you go so suddenly. This heartbreak is soul-crushing, a piece of my soul left with you. I couldn’t stop crying until I had no tears left. I still cry everyday. Although I loved you deeply, I couldn’t save you and make you stay longer. I miss your warm cuddles, your playful barks, and your gentle eye contact. The house feels empty without you, every corner reminds me of you. I find myself reaching out to pet you in the morning by my bed, going to your bed to tell you “goodnight,” only to remember that you’re no longer here. You were my joy, my purpose, my protector, and my soulmate.You were the best girl. We started this dog training journey together. You were always there when I needed support and comfort. You have mastered unconditional love, loyalty, and forgiveness. I will forever be grateful for the bond we shared, all the happy memories together, and all the dogs you have helped train over the years. This not only helps them to start with a relaxed state of mind around other dogs, but it also helps reduce anxiety and prevent any rude/ disrespectful behaviors. An overly adrenalized dog can become reactive, anxious, stressed and the list goes on. Most of the dog fights occur when dogs are in a highly aroused state. This is why we prefer mindset work over obedience. Think of it like humans, we tend to make better choices when we are calm and collected. Happy K9 Veterans Day !🇺🇸🐾 March 13th, 1942, mark Happy K9 Veterans Day !🇺🇸🐾 March 13th, 1942, marked the first time that canines officially became a part of the U.S. Armed Forces. That date would go on to become the day we use to celebrate Canine Veterans Day, albeit unofficially, when the Army began training military working dogs as part of their War Dog Program to create their K9 Corps. K9s that are set to become War Dogs are bred and brought up by the 341st Training Squadron at Joint Base San Antonio, where they’re well-socialized before they enter into their unique training plan. Socialization is completed by placing the puppies into short-term foster homes in the nearby area, usually for about five months, before returning them to the Training Squadron. Eventually, the dogs face a four-month training process. This involves obedience school, combat tactics training, and learning to find contraband and other dangerous items. Afterward, the dogs are trained to work alongside humans. This isn’t a one-way street, either! Prerequisites of eligibility for the group class: This is a specific event for dog owners who have learned Disciplined K9 training knowledge and handling skills.
